This book is a review of selected mineral deposits in the northern part of the African continent, referencing deposits in eight countries. The deposits result from mineralizing processes that range from the Mesoarchean to the Cenozoic and include types as varied as orthomagmatic chromium-nickel-platinum group elements (PGE); rare-metal granites and pegmatites (tantalum, niobium, and rare-earth elements); volcanic-hosted massive sulfide copper-zinc-lead-gold; sedimentary exhalative (SEDEX) zinc-lead-silver; orogenic and intrusion-related gold; iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG); banded iron formation (BIF); and Mississippi Valley-type (MVT) zinc-lead.
