This volume is a collection of papers resulting from a symposium titled, “Addressing Hazardous Waste and Contamination Issues at Abandoned Mines in the Western United States,” held at the 2002 Annual Meeting of the Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists in Reno, Nevada. A suitable subtitle for the book might have been “Case Studies in Site Characterization,” as the majority of the chapters present stand-alone hydrogeochemical studies of select sites.
