In 2006, Economic Geology introduced several new features to improve the visibility and impact of the journal, including the first Express Letters and a new series of Special Papers, following from the 100th Anniversary Special Papers in 2005. In volume 101, we published two new Special Papers on numerical modeling of heat and fluid flow in mineralized basins (v. 101, no. 1) and on methods of remote detection of mineralization using mineralogical, geochemical, and biological features (v. 101, no. 4).
