Throughout these short-course notes we have presented situations that have possible application to mineral deposits. The principles and procedures involved in interconverting between compositional and other thermodynamic parameters and in dealing with mixing, boiling, and cooling are the same whether one is dealing with a geothermal system or the formative stages of an ore deposit. The problems of silica and calcite deposition in geothermal wells and pipes are almost perfect analogs to some ore veins. In this chapter we shall apply some of these calculations to a few types of deposits as examples, not as a definitive chemical characterization for any specific deposit
