The following is a short synopsis of the geophysics used in the discovery and development of the Point Arguello oil field. For the most part, the method revolved around the typical seismic reflection techniques with a significant contribution from thermal modeling. Gravity and magnetics, however, were used only sparingly due to poor offshore sampling and data quality.
