In our paper on fluid indicators from seismic data (Farfour and Russell, 2024), we stated that, in the absence of hydrocarbons, the elastic properties of geologic formations often exhibit a remarkable correlation trend. This observation has been reported and confirmed by numerous studies, including those by Castagna et al. (1985), Castagna and Smith (1993), Simm et al. (2000), Russell et al. (2011), and Chopra and Castagna (2014).
