Natural fracture attributes important for tight gas reservoir characterization include hydraulic aperture, length, spacing, and connectivity. All of these parameters contribute to the permeability of the fractured reservoir, but many are difficult to observe and/or quantify with core, logs, or seismic. Our approach to estimating permeability for fractured layers is to augment direct fracture observation with geomechanical modeling and diagenetic characterization.
