Abstract
Predicting natural phenomena, such as sinkhole collapse, is one of the goals of environmental geophysics. In the late 1990s, the Geophysical Institute of Israel started a series of feasibility studies to understand and predict sinkhole collapse around the Dead Sea which had become an environmental hazard that was endangering roads, developments, and commercial salt operations.
