Prestack depth migration (PSDM) is the most accurate seismic solution for imaging subsurface structures because of its ability to focus and position reflections in the context of strong lateral velocity variations. Velocity model accuracy is the key to successful imaging using contemporary interval velocity-model building (IVMB) methods, because only an accurate velocity model can allow migration algorithms properly to account for the seismic wave propagation and raypath bending in the depth domain.
