Robert Sheriff (in The Encyclopedic Dictionary of Exploration Geophysics, 3rd edition) defines “seismic attribute” as a measurement based on seismic data, such as envelope amplitude (“reflection strength”), instantaneous phase, instantaneous frequency, polarity, velocity, dip, dip azimuth, etc.
