Bohai Bay Basin in Eastern China is a Meso-Cenozoic continental fault-bounded basin with abundant petroleum resources. During its evolution, the basin experienced multiple cycles of subsidence and uplift with each of these cycles having its distinct sedimentary systems. The Paleogene was dominated by the development of fan delta, braided and meandering fluvial delta, lake, beach and bar, lacustrine carbonate, and sublacustrine fan systems, which formed a series of large-scale high-quality reservoirs.
