The South Marsh Island Block 128 Field (Figure 1) is located offshore Louisiana, 150 miles southwest of New Orleans. Two abnormal phenomena, seismic wave tuning and high-amplitude reflections caused by small amounts of gas in the water sands, were observed after several wells were drilled in Blocks 128 and 141 by Mobil in 1975.
