The geology of the Bristol region and its influence on slope development is described. Emphasis is placed on the main lithological variations and their importance to the engineering geologist. Movements in the Carboniferous Limestone, Quartzitic Sandstone Group, Coal Measures, Keuper Marl and Lias Clay Formations are described.
