Paul Nathanail’s interest in engineering geology was kindled in his undergraduate years at Cambridge when he recognized that a career in engineering geology would allow him to maintain an interest in the whole range of geological sciences that he was studying. After a year with the Cyprus Geological Survey he completed the MSc course at Imperial College, gaining a distinction and a share in the Herbert Lapworth Medal.
