The Geoscience workforce was composed of only 21 % women as of 2015, a proportion that lags behind other science and math fields (Holmes et al., 2015). Studies have shown that this is not a “pipeline” issue, as there are enough women interested in the field who have started their careers in earth science but don’t continue.
