The archetypical MVT deposit, where we chose to concentrate our study, was the Illinois Iowa-Wisconsin District. This covers an area of 10,000 km2 with over 100 million tons of ore production averaging about 5 wt% zinc and 0.5 wt% lead, that earned over $1 billion in the last half of the 20th century.
