Palynologists around the world mourn the loss of Eric C. Grimm, renowned for his devising of the computer program TILIA, who died on 15 November 2020 at his home in Jefferson, South Dakota, USA at the age of 69. Eric contributed to stratigraphic palynology in two significant ways. His studies of the Quaternary paleoecology and paleoclimatology of eastern North America led to important insights into the variability of vegetation and climate in the northern Great Plains and Florida.
