The paper outlines a new approach and appropriate computing techniques for regional structural mapping of sedimentary cover (by the example of the West Siberian plate) on the basis of synthetic interpretation of poorly correlated geological and geophysical data. Processing involves logging and coring data, absolute depths on seismic exploration profiles and digitized elevation contours of the surface to model (or correlated surfaces), vector images of geological discontinuities and faults, etc. The new approach makes it possible to reveal and, in certain conditions, to eliminate strong inconsistency in raw data and to process into a composite map any number of irregularly positioned paper or electronic maps different in scales, presentation of details, contour interval, mapping parameters, etc., in various ways including smooth conjugation along curvilinear boundaries. The new approach was tested in modeling Jurassic hydrocarbon reservoirs in West Siberia.
