The paper presents evidence that a large synsedimentary uplift existed in the southern Siberian Platform in the Early Paleozoic and since the Early Cambrian has been a zone of oil and gas accumulation. A number of carbonate reservoirs within the uplift yielded flows of petroliferous fluids and possibly contain the greatest portion of the oil and gas resources of the region.
