The rates of lateral erosion and floodplain formation have been measured on large rivers of intermontane troughs of the Magadan Region. The data have first been obtained from a comparative analysis of the aerial photographs taken from 1941 to 1990. The intensity of the lateral erosion is 4.3–10.4 m/year. The average rate of the lateral accretion of floodplain varies from 4.1 to 10.3 m/year. The highest intensity of geologic processes is typical of the streams with predominantly branching channels. Some rivers, which are in the “senile” stage of their development, virtually do not rearrange the floodplain.
