Abstract
In a recent number of The American Mineralogist an interesting paper1 has appeared which states that “It now seems probable that the principal requisite of isomorphous replaceability is that the elements in question must possess approximately identical volumes, at least in simple compounds, the crystal structures of which represent fairly close packing of the constituent atoms.” An abstract2 of a paper expressing similar ideas has also been published.
