Abstract

An "average" interdiffusion coefficient (D) is between 2 and 4 X 10 (super -17) cm 2 /sec for a synthetic cryptoperthite at 600 degrees C in the composition range Or 23 -Or 53 , and between 6 and 12 X 10 (super -16) cm 2 /sec for a natural cryptoperthite at 650 degrees C in the composition range Or 0 -Or 85 . Finite-difference models are in good agreement with our experimental results.--Modified journal abstract.
