Abstract
The temperature—oxygen fugacity relationships of the “oxygen buffer” assemblages Ni-NiO, Mn3O4-Mn2O3, and Mn1-xO-Mn304 have been determined at 1 atm total pressure by an electrochemical method, over the temperature ranges 519°-1319°, 594°-952°, and 771°-1202°C, respectively.
These equations will be useful for hydrothermal experimentation and metamorphic petro-genesis, where a knowledge of existing oxygen fugacities is necessary.
