Abstract
This paper is based on a field and laboratory study of the igneous rocks of the Highwood Mountains, Montana, carried on by E. S. Larsen, C. S. Hurlbut, Jr., C. H. Burgess, D. T. Griggs, B. F. Buie, and N. A. Haskell, and we have used freely the collections, field and laboratory notes, and other data of our coworkers. We are indebted to them for permitting us to make use of their material and for helpful co-operation in every way.
