Abstract
Within the last few years the amphibole group has been the subject of a number of studies. Chief among these, perhaps, was that of Kunitz.1 This was an exhaustive chemical and optical investigation of carefully selected material, containing sixty new analyses. Many of these analyses have been used by the present writers in their study presented here in this preliminary report.
