It is with regret that we record the death of Joseph P. Wintringham at Oakland, New Jersey, on July 17, 1926. He was born at 153 Henry Street, Brooklyn, New York on May 2, 1852. He attended the Juvenile High School and Polytechnic Institute in Brooklyn, also boarding schools at Bloomfield, New Jersey and New Milford, Connecticut. When sixteen years of age he was ready to enter the School of Mines, Columbia University, but was denied admittance until he should reach the age of eighteen years. He first entered the cutlery business in New York in December, 1869, but subsequently became a broker in stocks, bonds and insurance. He retired from active business in 1909.
