It is generally recognized that fluids of diverse origins and compositions play an important role in the origin and evolution of rocks and minerals from a wide variety of geological environments. There is also an increasing awareness of the importance of fluid immiscibility and fluid-fluid interactions in a range of petrogenetic, ore genetic and associated crustal processes.
