This is a somewhat baffling book as the nature of the projected readership is unclear. It has too many mistakes, whimsicalities, hundreds of names which have never been used, pointless translations of phrases into a number of languages and an uncertain grasp of the wide area into which it has been expanded (including trilobites, echinoids and cephalopods), to be of any use to a mineralogist, gemmologist or any other scientist seeking an accurate definition or explanation of a term listed.
