During the course of research and teaching it is often all too easy to focus on recent research. However, in doing so we can lose sight of the early research which has laid the foundations of our current understanding and petrogenetic models. Often such seminal papers are deeply buried in infrequently-accessed dusty volumes on library shelves, or worse still the volumes have been removed to some basement bulk store, so prohibiting easy access.
