Here is a book to enjoy. Sheer unadulerated pleasure; not a textbook but a series of magnificent photographs of rocks from aerial photography through landscape scenes to hand-specimens and thin-sections as seen through the petrological microscope, with an intelligent, interesting and scientifically correct text, but written for those who know little, or even no, geology. It’s not an introductory textbook on geology but there are a few pages of plate tectonic explanation for those who want to know, but you do not need to read them to enjoy the colour photography.
