The mineralogy of gold is summarized, with a list of its alloys, tellurides, selenides and sulphides. The authors then embark on descriptions of how and where gold is found, enlivened by a colourful cross-section through the Earth’s crust, though the reader is warned that no single part of the crust contains all the features shown in the diagram!
