This book is intended to complement the Fleischer’s Glossary of Mineral Species series by providing a listing of all the names applied to minerals which are not recognized as valid species. The glossary therefore includes mineral synonyms, varietal names, mixtures, doubtful minerals, discredited minerals, mineral names applied to synthetic materials, ambiguous rock names, unstable polymorphs and hypothetical end-members. Also included are all the gemmoslogically important names applied to colour variants of a single species and a large number language variants.
