Abstract

Of the four sections examined, only that of Zug el-Bahar contained a relatively rich microfauna. The foraminifera (including one new species) and corallinacean algae (including four new species) from middle Miocene-Pleistocene beds of the section are described. Four biostratigraphic zones are defined and paleoecologic conditions are discussed.
