Abstract

The wall structure of representative species of the foraminiferal families Miliolidae, Soritidae, Nodosariidae, Sphaeroidinidae, Buliminidae, Discorbidae Elphidiidae, and Globigerinidae has been examined by transmitted light, polarized light, phase-contrast microscopy and electron microscopy. The submicronic structures of the surfaces of the tests, revealed by electron microscopy of carbon replicas, are correlated with the features observed in thin sections studied with the light microscope.
