Elaterites triferens Wilson, 1943, is reported for the first time since its discovery. The occurrence of this elater-bearing spore at West Mineral, Kansas, as at the original locality near What Cheer, Iowa, is in a coal ball of Des Moinesian age in the Pennsylvanian System. Morphological evidence indicates that the spores have equisetalean affinity.
