Abstract

The presence of Urgonian foraminifers in a sample of limestone containing Coscinophragma cribrosum, which had been labeled "?Cenomanian", from the north slope of Regenbolshorn, Bern canton, Switzerland, proves that the limestone is Urgo-Aptian in age. C. cribrosum is the only valid species of the genus and differs from other normally sessile arenaceous foraminifers by having a truly cribrate aperture.
