Abstract

This is the concluding part of a systematic and biostratigraphic study of foraminifera from Miocene localities in the western Sinai peninsula and on the African side of the Suez canal (for reference to the preceding parts, see this Bibliography Vol. 31, No. 1, 14 E67-00137, E67-00538). On the basis of the foraminiferal assemblages, the ecologic conditions are discussed for each of some 15 subzones ranging in age from upper Burdigalian to Tortonian. In general, the marine conditions appear to have fluctuated between shallow and moderate depths, and warm to temperate temperatures. A tentative range chart for a number of significant species of the foraminifera is included.
