Abstract

Multilocular embryonts in Lepidocyclina (Eulpidina) undosa Cushman are recorded for the first time in specimens from the Oligocene Cibao Formation of northern Puerto Rico. The development and causes of this phenomenon in species of Lepidocyclina are examined in the light of recent publications by Cole, Eames, Hanzawa, and others. This analysis demonstrates that multilocular embryonts alone have no taxonomic significance on a subgeneric or higher level.
