Abstract

The Leitz ultrapak unit, composed of a light reflector, objective lenses, aperture diaphragms, and a relief condenser, can be used with a simple monocular biological microscope-camera combination to provide an excellent instrument for producing sharp, evenly illuminated photomicrographs of such microfossils as foraminifers,rs, ostracods, and conodonts. The use of this equipment, together with various specimen preparation and mounting techniques, has made it possible for the most part, to resolve two of the most complex problems in photomicrography, depth of field and proper illumination.--Author's abstrac
