Abstract

The significant general features of the planktonic zones of the Cenozoic are discussed. Figures and ranges of important Cenozoic planktonic foraminifera are referred to the European geologic time scale combined with absolute chronology. Planktonic zonation for the Cenozoic is considered to have general world-wide uniformity, and thus provrovides a means of recognizing the standard European stages in open marine deeper-water facies of tropical areas of the world.--B.S.H
