Utilizing ultra-high-resolution 2D seismic data, Maier et al. (2012) interpreted that punctuated (also called abrupt and discrete by earlier workers, e.g., Kolla et al. 2007) migrations led to increased sinuosities of one of the slope channels (their Channel 2) of the Lucia Chica channel system, offshore California. I argue here that the data, as presented in Maier et al. (2012) figure 2B and C, show gradual, more continuous pulses of lateral migrations within Channel 2 after or before each of some punctuated migrations.
