Abstract

The silt-clay matrix of the greywackes in the Viqueque Formation of Timor is considered to be an original detrital deposit and not the result of post-depositional diagenesis of sand grains. These late-Tertiary greywackes from Timor are associated with calcilutites and calcarenites. This association and the origin of these greywackes are related to their oceanic and tectonic milieu.
