Abstract

At a stage when the sands are firmly held in original position by water films, an impregnation is made using an aqueous emulsion of pre-catalyzedpolyester resins which is later cured by heating. The emulsion replaces the water film and after hardening, the sample can be sawed or polished without damaging the sand grains. The emulsion will take up dyes as well.
