Abstract
"The pattern of distribution of foraminiferal detritus in the sediments of the Heron island reef closely resembles that of the living fauna, whereas the distribution pattern of the other organic groups is dependent primarily on the mechanical agencies active on the reef. Thus, the foraminiferal material tends to produce a residual biofacies within the overall lithofacies and is therefore a reliable indicator of the original faunal distribution."
