Abstract
Great numbers of loricas of tintinnids are preserved as calcium carbonate in the upper Jurassic (Tithonian) and Neocomian (Cretaceous) beds of the Balearic islands. The sediments are of very fine structure, comprising calcite in very small grains, of pelagic origin with no terrigenous influences.
