The technique described is particularly useful for suture drawing of specimens having a diameter of about 50 mm and smaller, especially those possessing complex sutures. The specimen is affixed to a rotating mounted screw on a microscope stage micrometer, a device permitting the specimen to be moved so that the suture being drawn is kept parallel to the plane of focus. Proper reference lines for sutural ontogenies are discussed.
