Three methods presently used for the treatment of plankton samples for quantitatively accurate retrieval of foraminifera tests are described; the classical method in which the foraminifera are removed by means of a very fine brush, the saturated liquid method, and the ignition method. A fourth, the filter method, is proposed and compared with the current methods. After experimenting with the four methods it was evident that the filter method is the most convenient, simplest, fastest, and most effective method of removing foraminifera from plankton samples.
