Abstract

Statistical investigation of representatives of Sakesaria collected from the Farafra limestone of the Maqfi and el-Gus Abu Said sections, Libyan desert, Egypt, assigns them to Sakesaria cotteri Davies. The presence of this species in the Alveolina decipiens zone confirms the early Eocene age of this unit, and extends its geographic distribution from West Pakistan and Qatar into the northern part of Africa.
