Abstract

Fragments of palm stems, Palmoxylon Waageni n. sp., are described from the Upper Cretaceous Trail City Member of Fox Hills Formation, in Dewey County, S. Dak. The specimens probably belong to Coryphoideae, a tribe of "sabaloid" palms. Arthmiocarpus hesperus (Wieland) n. comb., from Grand River valley, S. Dak., presumably from the Laramie Formation, previously identified as an araucarian cone, is reinterpreted as a multiple fruit, most closely allied to the Moraceae.
