Abstract

The new genus Skinnerina, type species S. typicalis, n. sp., (Schwagerininae) in the lower part of the Word Formation, Glass Mountains, Texas, has a thickly fusiform test, two or more irregular tunnels in later volutions, and thick secondary deposits on the septal folds. Phylogenetic relations with Parafusulina (its apparent ancestor), and Polydiexodina are charted and discussed. Rausella erratica Dunbar (Ozawainellinae), reported for the first time from the lower Word Ford Formation, Glass Mountains, extends the range of this distinct but rare genus nearly to the base of the Guadalupian in West Texas.
